Hi everyone, I'm trying to figure out the best MOTO for my 13600k. After searching a lot, I'm still unsure because there are so many options. I have a few questions: How important is it to choose a Z-series board instead of a B-series one? I don’t want to overclock much but I still want good Turbo Boost performance. If I get a Z-series board, should I pick DDR5 or DDR4? I know the current gap isn't huge, but maybe it will change later. I also need to know more details, but these are the main points. Also, I can only buy MSI or GIGABYTE boards.

Performance gap begins around 6000 cl30. Therefore, if this affects another component of your system, consider opting for DDR4 instead.

They often talk about VRM temperatures, noting a big gap between Z and B types. I’m mainly concerned about overheating causing performance drops.

Z and b refer to the chipset, not related to VRMs. Manufacturers set the voltage requirements, but VRMs can vary in quality across different boards. Do you have a site with board options?

The cost variation between ASRock Riptide and MSI Mortar largely stems from extra capabilities such as Gen 5 PCI-E support.

It's essentially a waste of money with PCIe 5.0 on 13th generation chips, since adding an NVMe drive causes them to shut down.

I acquired a Z board for better undervolting since it handles high temperatures well. I think the board’s specs limit you to DDR4 up to 3200/3600 MHz, and even DDR5 isn’t ideal. That’s what I heard, but I didn’t test it myself—just bought a budget MSI Z Pro and moved on.
