The MSI Z690-A D4 offers more powerful components and better audio quality compared to the Asus Prime B660M-A D4. At the listed prices, the MSI board provides a stronger build and enhanced features, making it a worthwhile upgrade if you need those specifics.
I view that clip, yet unfortunately the model isn't accessible in my region. This is why I'm curious whether the cost variation makes choosing the Z690 model worthwhile or not.
ASUS Prime H670-Plus D4 offers the same VRM for $160, along with top I/O in its price range. GIGABYTE B660M Gaming X DDR4 and B660 Gaming X DDR4 make solid choices (if available at reasonable prices). The GIGABYTE B660 DS3H also provides a strong VRM (and the AX variant), though only the full-size model is suitable, not the microATX version. ASUS Prime B660-Plus D4 remains a strong pick for $140, delivering excellent I/O. ASRock B660M Pro RS is a decent alternative, as noted by Steve in the referenced video. GIGABYTE B660M DS3H DDR4 serves as a fallback option. The ASUS Prime H610M-A D4 can also meet requirements, though it may have fewer low-side FETs compared to larger models.
Yes this 150%, do not bother with integrated sound, nor a sound card inside the case, both a big no-no. External dac/amp is the best option. And SoundBlaster X3 and X4 even support 5.1 and 7.1 surround, so there's no excuse anymore xD even for us who don't use 2.1, nor headsets/headphones. X4 comes optical in and optical sound cable in the box, and advanced microphone stuff, so it's a superior option.
There aren't many B660 boards available or they're quite expensive. The best choice seems to be the ASUS Prime B660M. For a 12400f, is the top heatsink on the Wi-Fi version worth the investment? The Wi-Fi feature is nice but not essential for most users. Thanks for your responses.
