Motherboard choice
Hey everyone, considering the Tuf Gaming X570-Plus Wi-Fi or the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro. The Wi-Fi is nice, but affordable cards mean it’s not a huge concern (no local store has the Aorus board with Wi-Fi). At this price I don’t see much value in picking up details like the yellow accents on the TUF board. Which one would work best with a 5600X? I prefer a cleaner look, but it’s not worth it right now. Thanks!
The X570 board isn’t necessary unless you require a 5600x. For Wi-Fi, the B550M-PRO-VDH-WFI is suitable, though it only supports Wi-Fi 5 and is micro ATX. If you need Wi-Fi 6 and an ATX setup, consider these alternatives:
The purpose of the x570 remains unchanged—it still serves as a solid choice for overclocking, though it comes with a higher cost.
B550 came shortly after X570's launch. X570 only offered PCIe 4.0 support, whereas B550 utilized PCIe 3.0. The key distinction lies in the number of lanes: X570 used 4.0 lanes while B550 had 3.0. Other variations include SLI compatibility (only one B550 board supports it) and USB 2.0 ports (B550 can have up to six, X570 typically lacks them). The lane configuration in the chipset remains the primary difference.
Not really, the B550 and X570 share quite similar VRMS too. The X570 launched long before the B550, so prior to that the only option for PCIE 4.0 was the X570. Now both support it, but B550 tends to be more affordable. That’s why most here don’t suggest the X570 unless you’re building a top-of-the-line setup.
It's a joke, but I can find that ASUS board with Wi-Fi at the same cost as the one I just got back. I hope it comes in the white/silver finish like the 550-a. Thanks for the tip!
The original board you refunded is not specified in the provided information.
I was worried about VRM temperatures others mentioned, so I chose another board instead of worrying about overheating if I push the CPU beyond limits. For a white-themed setup and since these boards are much cheaper, does the Asus B550-a perform well? It looks almost identical to the one you shared, just without Wi-Fi and with a different design.
