Motherboard chipset drivers
I attempted to overclock my CPU in the BIOS last night, but the option turned grayed out and won’t allow changes. I’m also unsure if an updated BIOS is necessary and whether I need the MB drivers, as they are significantly larger than the AMD ones I downloaded from their site.
The BIOS doesn't require any drivers. But you should check if your motherboard and CPU can handle overclocking.

BIOS doesn't require any drivers. But the issue is whether your motherboard and CPU both allow overclocking?
Hi
Yes, they do—it's the MSI B350 motherboard with a Ryzen 7 1700. I've seen some videos and I'm trying to figure out where I might be making a mistake. I'm using the mouse while everyone else in the videos is using num+ - haha. I'll try it out tonight when I have time.
You probably need to adjust the OC settings to Manual mode before you can modify values such as multiplier. The method doesn't matter—whether you use the mouse or keyboard, if the option is hidden you must first enable it through another setting.

Probably you need to adjust the OC settings to Manual first before you can modify values like multiplier. It doesn’t matter if you do it with a mouse or keyboard—if the setting is hidden, you’ll have to unlock it using another method. I managed to overclock it to 3.6ghz, but then it wouldn’t boot and I saw a black screen. The mouse and keyboard stopped working too. I had to remove the battery from the CMOS. Any thoughts on what might have caused this? It’s starting to worry me a bit though haha
DRagor :
Well, probably it was too much for your CPU. Remember that there is nothing certain when OCing - one unit can go to 4 Ghz easily while other will struggle at 3.5.
I tried lowering it even more and the same happened again. I have overclocked it on the ryzen master programme and I’m getting 3.6ghz easy. Wonder if it’s because I activated that stay quiet thing too. I’ll figure it out xD
