The top choice for a B450 mainboard is the MSI B450 Tomahawk. It handles even a 12-core setup smoothly, offers solid VRM performance, and provides excellent value for money. I’d steer clear of all ASRock models in this range and the Asus ROG Strix b450-f, which tends to have VRM problems. The Tomahawk stands out even if you consider future upgrades.
ASRock frequently encounters problems with their UEFIS models in the budget category. I wouldn't suggest purchasing from them in this situation. The Steel legend offers a significantly worse VRM design compared to the MSI B450 Tomahawk. Opt for MSI instead—it provides a better upgrade path thanks to its much superior VRM, capable of supporting 12 or even 16 cores. The ASRock option falls short... Spend a bit more if you want quality, but ensure it's well-made.
