Hi, I purchased a used TUF GAMING X570-PRO WIFI II for 2€. The motherboard had some issues—its damaged, the previous owner had accidentally removed the BIOS flashback button and likely attempted a DIY resolder. Once I connected the CPU and PSU, it would power all peripherals but wouldn’t boot. I tested it with Ryzen 3 2200G, Ryzen 5 5600 and 5 5700. Later, I tried bridging the pads that held the button, but it didn’t work. One pad is completely broken off and I haven’t managed to re-establish a connection. Since the board was essentially free, I’m open to suggestions. Do you have any ideas on what to try? I don’t have schematics or further details about the damage. Thanks for your help!

The button might function as a basic toggle, so missing it shouldn't cause issues. If it's meant to bridge correctly, a bios update should happen (or it could be an inverted switch—like opening instead of closing). If it's just a switch, the motherboard should still work and there might be another problem. Edited January 10 by leclod

Apparently if the board was working with a good BIOS, then just the button missing shouldn't prevent it from booting. BUT, if something is incompatible; CPU, RAM, or the BIOS is somehow corrupted, then the Flashback button has to be present as it is an integral part of initiating the update process, otherwise it gets stuck exactly as described by @lenye . My guess is the BIOS is corrupted. All you say indicates that as a possibility. @lenye have you tried bridging the pads, considering that would initiate an update, while you have a USB with the latest BIOS on it and try actually flashing the BIOS? Ya never know, as long as the board is getting power it may work. you didn't mention a gpu or monitor, so is there any video output at all?

I attempted a blind BIOS update based on some instructions, thinking the board would detect the flash update after power-on. I also tried connecting the pads but found one damaged. Tomorrow I plan to remove a small amount of coating from the trace and reattach it. Concerning the GPU, I didn’t remember to try it before—both iGpu and dGpu didn’t produce any video output.

Confirming the details: the 2200G includes an integrated GPU, while the 5600 and 5700 do not. Good luck!
