Hi! I have a question about some games on my PC. The ones are Rust, GTA V, and Brawlhalla, both from Steam, plus Call of Duty Warzone on Battle.net. Rust and GTA V have the same problem: they start fine, but everything breaks when trying to join an online lobby. Brawlhalla and Warzone also crash right away at startup. Rust doesn't even make a crash report, while Warzone shows a report saying it hit a Directx error that can't be fixed. I've tried these things already: checking if the files are okay (they were), clearing my Steam cache, turning graphics down to the lowest setting before joining, looking for viruses (none found), updating GPU drivers, restarting my computer several times, reinstalling the games, and changing my power plan. None of those helped. I could play these games a month ago, but suddenly they stopped working. I can still play other Steam games like CS:GO and TF2, even War Thunder for some reason. My PC is actually under-specified for Rust; it has 8GB of RAM when the game needs more than that, back then everything worked fine. My computer specs are this: CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3350G, GPU AMD RX570 with 8GB VRAM, 8GB DDR4 RAM running at single-channel speeds, storage includes a 240GB SSD and an external hard drive. Can anyone help me fix this issue?
Imagine if nothing ever existed that wasn't okay first. That's what happens with power supplies too. They've probably had many issues way back when they were new, just like eating a huge piece of bacon every day would hurt your heart long before you feel sick.
What makes up the PSU, what kind of SSD do I have, how hot does my CPU or GPU get while playing the game, and what percentage are they using right now.
I don't know which PSU brand or model you have, but it's a 450-watt thing and I bought that PC before. The PSU never breaks for me so I think it will be fine. My SSD still has 10gb of free space left. Both the CPU and GPU use around 30% while playing each game, because Warzone uses up to 70% only when in menus. Temps are also low because of that same reason.
I agree with @rgd1101 from my previous post about #4. Power supplies get worse as they age, and they have a built-in End of Life that isn't just about how many years it's been since they started. It happens way too often that the very first signs of PSU failure show up suddenly like crashes, along with other weird problems. This is especially bad when things are working hard, like during an intense gaming session. = = = = And I'm adding this suggestion: check your Reliability History and Event Viewer for error codes, warnings, and even informational messages that happen right before or around the time you crash. You might notice a pattern where both the number of errors and the types of them go up over time.
Almost all things that ever lived haven't had any trouble until they finally get one. It's like this with power supplies; there were probably so many issues way back when they started working that you only notice them much later. If you ate a pound of bacon every meal, your heart would have lots of problems before you even felt anything wrong.
