In short, I played some games and saw a brand new green error screen I’d never seen. After four to five restarts, the system booted into BIOS without any boot drives available. I replaced the M.2 slot and the PC stopped responding at all. I’ve also tried running without the M.2 slot but still got no response. Updated December 3, 2023 by Jadyn Valvona-Healy.

I believe your PC might have switched to insider mode when I used an insider build, as the BSOD turned green. Do you have a separate laptop where you could extract the data and games from your M.2 drive and reinstall Windows? That seems like the most logical solution. If that doesn’t work, consider flashing your BIOS and then check again.

The laptop seems to work normally, yet caution is advised before erasing it. If the M.2 module caused an issue, should it still function without it?

Are you part of the Windows Insider program? Likely the problem is related to BIOS. I checked and it might be a CPU fan connector issue—try using a different fan port. Updated: December 3, 2023 by alyfrill

I'm confirming, yes. It seems like a BIOS problem might be involved, though it behaved oddly after the crash until I restored the M.2 slot.

Tell me which game you were playing before the crash occurred.

I’m limited to seating it because I only have one CPU fan port and one case fan port available.

System started up, but I'm still in Bios mode. The M.2 slot isn't showing up.

Fortnite is running on a different hard drive. My M.2 card uses Windows only.

Do the fans start up immediately upon turning the device on?
