Games from Steam or Origin/EA often freeze or crash immediately when launching. This issue started about three days ago. Opening a game like MWII results in a black screen, and the crash handler runs, but the app won’t stop. I’m forced to close it via Task Manager, yet it stays stuck, using excessive memory and refusing to restart because it shows “this app is already running.” Interestingly, only “Stray” launches without problems from Steam; all other titles I’ve tried freeze similarly. I’ve updated drivers, cleaned temp files, reinstalled Steam/games, verified file integrity, cleared download cache, removed beta features, and changed storage drives. Despite these steps, I still can’t determine the cause or fix it. My system specs are: AMD Ryzen 5 3600, Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite RTX 3080, 10GB NVMe SSD, Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB, WD Black SN750, and Samsung 860 Evo. I’m using Corsair RM750 7750 W (80+ Gold). I’m seeking guidance to resolve this problem.

750W serves as the baseline for an RTX 3080 with 10GB of VRAM, including your personal variant. This GPU is recognized for its ability to surge power significantly, making it simple to perform a straightforward benchmark by reducing the available power from the card using tools like Asus Tweak III or MSI Afterburner down to around 90%. The RTX 3080 10GB has previously been noted for reaching spikes as high as 500W at times.

The issue doesn't seem to be a black screen crash due to PSU activation. Are you using a daisy chain of PCIe cables connected to your graphics card?

The system stays active without interrupting other applications. The game's loading screen stays blank. There is no daisy chain; every GPU connector uses its own cable and direct link to the power supply.

Sorry about the unclear situation. The only issue was the game app, the rest worked fine. The game loading screen stayed black, and my system didn’t power off.

Recent bios updates? New AMD chipset drivers available for download. SSD firmware latest on your drive. GPU driver releases in progress. Firmware updates for GPUs are ongoing. XMP settings currently disabled. RAM performance verified via Memtest86. XMP activation attempted but unsuccessful. Benchmark results consistent with standard tests. Stress testing tools like OCCT and Prime95 function properly. Performance metrics match expected benchmarks.

Previously had the overlay from GeForce Experience, I also took it out just in case. I typically use Razer Central, Logitech G HUB, and Discord. Occasionally I switch to other browsers for streaming or listening to music on Spotify; for this troubleshooting session I kept only Razer Central and Logitech G HUB active.

BIOS and GPU drivers are all set, I’ll look for updates then reply once finished.

I’d test by turning off Razer first, then Logitech G Hub. I’ve faced problems launching BF2042 and sometimes need admin rights or a shutdown to get it running smoothly.
