My system runs an Intel i5 6500 with 8GB RAM at 2133MHz, GTX 1060 graphics card, and a MSI B150m Pro motherboard. Recently, some friends introduced me to Comp Fortnite, but I’m struggling to maintain stable 100 FPS even at low settings. My CPU stays around 95-100% utilization, and my frame rate drops significantly—sometimes to 60 or less—which makes the game difficult to play. Since I can’t upgrade hardware, I’m wondering if adding more RAM would improve performance.

It seems the main issue is the CPU, not memory. Adding more RAM won’t make a big difference. Edited August 3, 2020 by nox_

Adding more RAM might not really reduce CPU usage. Many users focus on games running smoothly without full CPU load. Changing to dual-channel RAM, whether 2x4 or 2x8 GB, could slightly boost performance, but the gain would be limited.

Check for additional tasks consuming your CPU and disable them.

Using two channels can boost performance, but it might not improve CPU utilization.
