In short, yes it does impact performance. It mainly affects CPU, disk, and memory, which is why extra threads, more memory, and an SSD help.

They still work, but with your current setup it shouldn<|pad|> to make a difference. A GTX 970 won’t hit the 6700K full potential and you have ample RAM to handle it, so performance should be okay. Expect changes once you upgrade your graphics card.

They reduced your FPS, but I don’t bother shutting them down. I just switch to Chrome, Discord, whatever when I’m done.

Seriously, only focus if your RAM and CPU are above 80-90% utilization. Otherwise, no noticeable impact will occur. Problems typically arise only when those resources reach their limits. The GPU is a bit more sensitive—main issues appear when you're running demanding graphics workloads on another monitor or display.
