I recently installed my new PC and it’s functioning perfectly, which is great. I also purchased a monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate (280Hz OC), 1440p resolution, an Alienware AW2723DF 27 model, and a 240Hz (280Hz OC) display. The unit came from Amazon, marked as "Used - Very Good Condition" with only minor damage on the original box. Initially, everything worked smoothly at 144Hz, but once I increased the refresh rate to 240Hz or higher, I noticed an issue: the multi-picture image appears distorted. I connected it using a DisplayPort cable, which allows over 144Hz, though the HDMI still limits it to 144Hz. The image looks sharper on the HDMI side. My concern is whether this is due to the monitor’s DisplayPort port or possibly the cable itself. I’m hoping there’s a straightforward fix without having to return the monitor, as I really like its build. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

PC specs:
- Corsair 4000D Airflow Mid Tower
- Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB (2x16GB) at 6000MHz CL30
- AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
- Noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler
- Noctua 120mm fan x1
- ASUS TUF Gaming B650-PLUS Wi-Fi
- Crucial P3 Plus 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe
- Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB GDDR6
- Corsair RM850x SHIFT fully modular ATX 3.0 PCIe 5.0 80 Plus Gold
- Thermal Grizzly cooling solution
- Kryonaut thermal paste
- Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
- BIOS is current (updated yesterday)

Thanks in advance for any insights!

I'm not sure about your current DisplayPort cable, but you should use at least DP 2.0 for 1440p240.

Uncertain about the details; the display port was included in the monitor box. It might not be the correct model since it likely came from a repackaged version, with the cable tied instead of sealed. I’m hoping you’re right it’s the cable. I’ve taken some photos just in case it’s a 2.0. Thanks Spoiler

The port will look identical for all full-size DisplayPort cables. What matters is whether any text is printed on the cable, much like with Ethernet. In the worst case, you might need to buy a DP40 DisplayPort cable from Amazon to confirm you have the correct one and keep troubleshooting as needed.

In AMD's graphics settings, adjust the sub sampling to 4:2:0 or 4:0:0 for a 240Hz display. Open the graphic control panel and locate this setting. Note that your 7800XT model has a dp of 2.1 and displays 1440p at 144Hz. To reach 240Hz, you'll need a higher DP like 1.4. You can achieve this without sub-sampling by using a better cable—check the cable quality or consider a third-party option.

Checked the product on Amazon UK and saw this cable. Would ordering it be a good idea? Thanks.

For Amazon.UK it's better to choose Ugreen, KabelDirekt or CableMatters—these are recognized names and should work well. Occasionally cables with monitors aren't great...

I spotted a few options, any of these seem possible? UGREEN: Spoiler KabelDirekt: Spoiler will choose what you think is best and give it a try. I’ll be thrilled if it’s just the cable. Thanks ahead!

I purchased the Displayport cable and tested it, but the issue persists. I also adjusted the monitor settings, yet the same problem continues. Could you check if there are other solutions or should I consider returning the monitor?
