Hi there. I just completed a Cinebench R23 test to check performance expectations. My new gaming setup, Gaming Rig 2.0, was built recently and I was worried about the case temperature. It rarely exceeded 86°C, averaging around 84-85°C on the CPU side (full specs listed below). I’m not sure what the safe temperature range is, so I’m seeking advice to ensure my rig stays healthy. Components: Motherboard – MSI Z590-A Pro; CPU – Intel Core i7-11700K; RAM – Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB @3200MHz (two 16GB modules); GPU – XFX Speedster SWFT 210 AMD Radeon RX 6600; Power supply – EVGA 850W GT Supernova AIO; Storage – Corsair iCue H100i Elite Capellix, Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB M.2, Seagate 2.5" HDD, and a Western Digital 4TB 3.5" HDD case; all in an airflow Corsair 220T RGB unit. In standby, the i7-11700K operates at about 37°C (may vary with cooling setup).
86C works well with an all-core setup. Most Intel processors cap at about 100°C, meaning you're still 14°C short. Cooling helps, but it won't damage your chip. Since gaming demands will be lighter, temperatures should stay around 55-65°C—completely fine. You might expect a 240mm AIO to perform better, but the 11700K is a power-hungry model, which makes sense. It draws roughly 200W during full-core operation when power limits are off, generating significant heat.
During the games I watched using MSI Afterburner, the peak temperatures stayed near 59 to 60 degrees. The GPU temperatures matched that range too. I also tested Heaven, which had similar readings.
I prefer not to push the GPU beyond its limits because I'm still learning about overclocking and don’t feel confident doing it. I just want to give it a small boost without risking damage. Also, since I won’t be able to buy a new one right away (it’s often available for order), I need to be careful with my current setup.
