Monitor Help Please!
Hey there! Just started my gaming journey with a new PC that includes the GTX 1070, i5 6600k, 16 DDR4 RAM, etc. I ordered an LG UC88B 29 in wide curved monitor with 2560 X 1080 at 75Hz and 5ms GtG. I'm thinking about whether a higher resolution or higher refresh rate monitor would have been better. Would it really help the GPU perform more? I'm curious about the pros and cons of both options and what you think. Also, since I'm not super rich, I didn't get the luxury items but still wanted a curved screen. Thanks for your advice!
I have a slower CPU, so I might experience a lower framerate in certain scenarios, but I’m okay with 1440p depending on the game. In Witcher 3 I maintained around 60 fps with ultra and hairworks enabled. In Battlefield 1 I run at 1080p to achieve a higher frame rate and it looks excellent. When performance drops, gsync helps smooth things out.
A plus with 1440p and a 1070 is that once the GPU is replaced, it will really perform well on a high refresh rate monitor in most cases. Get more for your money.
I enjoy my S2716DG but you should look for it on sale. It offers all the features of Acer and Asus at a reduced cost. If you have a Microcenter nearby, they have an in-store deal for $499 – that’s a great deal.
Thank you for the response! I appreciate the suggestion about a curved monitor with a 21:9 ratio, though I was expecting something different. I’ll keep an eye on that option. Upgrading to 1440p might also work out. Any other thoughts welcome.
I'm reviewing these monitors:

What do you think? Suitable for a 1070 GPU? I'm aiming for a solid display without hurting my frame rate or stressing the PC. A 1440p at 60 Hz seems like a balanced choice. Let me know if that's correct.
