Hello,
I’m uncertain whether to post this in the offtopic section or elsewhere, so if my choice is incorrect, please direct it to the right forum area.
My main question is about guidelines regarding how mods influence Steam games VAC and achievements.
I’m interested in general improvements such as graphics and audio, not in any "hack" modifications.
Are there variations between different Steam games when using mods from the Steam Store versus fully third-party ones? For example, does installing a better graphics mod for an RPG on Steam affect it differently than downloading a third-party version?
Also, should I look up each game and mod individually on Steam forums, or is there a general rule I should follow?

It varies by application and its acceptance of modifications. Certain games may prevent achievements when mods are used, whereas graphics enhancements such as ReShade are usually permitted. Anti-cheat systems often check for cheat tools or unusual activity. To stay safe, avoid modifying games with strong anti-cheat measures.
