Several ENBs perform significantly better than the built-in engine. You also have the option to tailor them to your preferences in a far more extensive way than with the current system.
Visit the Nexus mods site and check the ENB section. You'll find excellent options such as RealVision and Tamriel Reloaded.
Other options exist if the ENB ones seem too complex; for instance, I prefer the non-ENB versions which also look great.

I’m okay with the stock interface. I prefer its appearance over SkyUI.
I personally prefer the older versions of SkyUI without the crafting menu. The layout really isn't great.
