Check if Skyrim modifications for Nexus fit the Special Edition. Decide where to get the files—Bethesda or Nexus. See if you can run both Nexus and Bethesda mods together.

A few versions might already exist, but most won't work immediately because of engine updates. Right now, I'd hold off on mods for special editions, since they should fit if the developer keeps the original mechanics intact.

Because SE uses x64 architecture, they need updated code. Simple summary.

Just follow the installation instructions for the mod files. Nexus doesn’t currently provide a mod manager for Special Edition. The engine used in Skyrim Special Edition is distinct from the original game, which is why Fallout 4 ENB files are necessary. Additionally, older Skyrim mods won’t function properly, even though many popular ones have been adapted for the new version.

Several older mods should function, but it's wise to wait for the official release. Custom assets like textures require adjustments since SE uses different formats. ENB isn't working properly; you might find some injectors that work for Fallout 4, though they're not fully reliable. The creator of ENB hasn't confirmed plans for SSE yet, depending on its popularity.

Skyrim SE has received backing from Nexus Mods from its release. However, the servers remain offline at all times.

I understand your point. Just to clarify, it isn't fully backed by Nexus Mod Manager at the moment. Let me know if that's accurate. Edit: It does include NMM compatibility, though you'll need to download and transfer files yourself.

You're mistaken: it actually handles the issue by shutting down their servers, which is why it's offline. This isn't limited to SSE—any other NMM features (like Fallout 4) are also affected and trigger the same offline state.
