You're dealing with a setup where your GTX 780 uses two monitors, but the second one is taking precedence. The BIOS and Windows 8 boot logo appear on it, while the DVI-I port is feeding the VGA monitor. You're considering an upgrade but are constrained by budget. The issue seems to stem from the VGA monitor expecting DVI-I input, which isn't compatible with the current setup. Have you thought about checking the monitor's power settings or trying a different cable configuration?

I pay attention because I want to understand your perspective. No harm intended—just a slight misstep.

Adjust the ports near the GPU connections instead of navigating through Windows settings. In the control panel, set the monitor as Monitor 1.

For appearance it doesn't really matter much. I can't adjust the ports (reason given) and they're all coming from the GPU. My main display is set to monitor 1 in the control panel.

Good reason! I think the GPU prioritizes the ports when displaying BIOS or windows stuff. I've had this issue before. (and the thing that solved it was a broken 2nd monitor )

So there's no way to change it?

Based on what you understand, just check the BIOS settings and look for any info about splash screens.

I have three screens, but my post screen isn't appearing on my center monitor. Before the move it showed up on the left screen, after relocating the computer it appeared on the third screen. I've tried connecting different screen setups, except for swapping the displays themselves, which seems undesirable.
