So, anyone else feeling a serious lack of Post Apocalypse style games, that aren't about zombies? (I'm going specifically with fps) Yeah there's always fallout 3 and new vegas but I've played those to death. Both Metro's are great, but it's a linear storyline essentially. I'm trying to enjoy Stalker SoC, but goddamn it's a hard game. Is there anything out there that's survival based like Dayz, but with a setting like Half Life or Fallout, with radiation and mutated wildlife etc.? If not there should be. I like the general ambience of this image.

Given the existing titles like Fallout and Stalker, your options seem very limited.

The forest offers a similar vibe to post-apocalyptic games, though Rust could be a good fit.

The forest edit: You really messed with me for winning first. It's about survival, and the scenery is amazing—especially since I've spent a lot of time on Rust. It doesn't seem to fit this style yet, but zombies aren't there anymore. The main challenge now is the players, while the wildlife includes bears, wolves, pigs, and deer. It promises to be an epic experience once the new version is more enjoyable to play.

I looked at those, the forest seems like it could be fun. Rust looks fun but it's got dayz style problems (endless killing by other players). I just wish there was something like dayZ, but single player. Does the forest have weapons? like guns?

I'm feeling the same, but I've crafted the best conclusions for both so :\ (ranger settles into a fetal stance) Yes, absolutely. That's the focus here—ambiance, I adore the hum of a Geiger counter and a gentle breeze. Perhaps faintly far away, a klaxon is sounding....

I've gone through them countless times and it's lost all its humor.
