I’m preparing for the upgrade and wanted to know if I should remove or reinstall certain drivers before installing the new components. Some users suggest re-downloading Windows 10 to avoid compatibility problems. Your current setup includes a Ryzen 5 2600, an SSD, and a specific motherboard model. You’re planning to switch to an Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING II and upgrade your RAM to G.Skill DDR4 Trident-Z. Whether you need to adjust drivers depends on the new hardware and any updates required.
I hadn’t mentioned it precisely, though maybe well. Others have tried using license keys for Win7 to get 11 to function. You might need to re-enter the old key, which can be a frustrating task if you don’t possess it. Locate the original key and keep a physical copy before attempting the replacement, so you can re-enter it later. A fresh installation to install a new motherboard is typical since the new one may have unique hardware configurations—such as different USB or Wi-Fi chips—that require specific drivers. These drivers are saved during setup, ensuring the correct ones are added with a clean reinstall. Edited December 22, 2021 by Bombastinator
In theory, because you're not relocating chipsets, you should maintain your existing Windows setup without issues. The main drivers needing updates or reinstalls would be for board-specific features such as networking and audio. If Windows functions normally, it shouldn't shut down on you, though the outcome depends on Mount Redmond's decisions.
