Hello, Here is a complete list of my new build. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/ynT3FZ Yesterday for the first time since I have had my build, the CPU reached 100% load and it started to lag a lot. It was reaching 90-92 degrees. Which from what I can understand, isn't that hot for this CPU. For reference, the CPU idles at 30-35 degrees. While I game, it hovers around 50-60 degrees. But if, for example, unpack a game via Steam, CPU loads reach 100% and the temperature reach 90-92 and starts to lag very badly. I have attached an excellent drawing explaining the air flow of the case. The build was done by Canada Computer. I had started and finished it myself at first but it wouldnt POST, I brought the whole thing at CP (which is where I bought most of the parts ) and they swapped the mobo because it was defective and finished the build back. I did not check the paste, but I'm assuming canada computer know how to apply paste. So my questions are, is 90-92 degrees that bad ? Ive read multiple threads to not to worry even up to 95. But my pc becomes unusable at 90-92 degrees. So what am I supposed to look at / change ? Thanks for the help.

Packaging games on Steam can be challenging, especially if the CPU is working hard to unpack files, which may cause lag. The lag usually happens only during downloads, not when the system is running smoothly. You likely turned on features like EXPO and possibly PBO, and you probably updated GPU drivers as well. Did you also refresh the chipset drivers?

Steam unpacking can put a lot of stress on your CPU. I'm unsure if it causes noticeable lag or makes the system almost unresponsive. Expo is turned on, but PBO is disabled. All GPU, BIOS, and chipset drivers are up to date. My previous PC was weaker, but unpacking a game from Steam never caused significant lag—mouse movement barely changed. I checked if CPU load at 100% was the problem; it did automatically. Once CPU usage reached 100%, temperature jumped to 90–92°C and performance dropped.

It seems you're trying to manage cool air before the CPU cooler gets its share. Adjusting the fan placement can make a big difference. Consider moving the front-mounted fan out of the way or adding an extra exhaust fan on a separate header. Keep the rear exhaust fan in a dedicated header and position it closer to the CPU for better airflow control. If space allows, lowering the rear exhaust fan’s angle can help align it more effectively with the cooler fans. These tweaks should improve cooling performance.

That's interesting, how fast do the fans spin in your case? Are you able to connect intake and exhaust fans to separate headers? - you could set exhaust fans to slower speed so that there's abundance of cooler air that is less likely to get snatched before it can run through the coolers To actually check if it's a airflow problem, you could try same test with the sidepanel off, if it reaches too hot with sidepanel off, then there's some problem. Besides EXPO and PBO no further OCing was done?

I need to verify the performance. Right now I'm at work. Everything was configured automatically using Armoury Crate software. Initially, it ran around 500-600 RPM, with two 140mm fans on the bottom at about 1000 RPM. That matches what I saw—only EXPO enabled and PBO disabled. No other changes were made. Based on what I understand, I could activate profile 3 of PBO to lower the temperature. However, according to various sources I've seen, temperatures between 90-92 degrees shouldn't be unusually high for this CPU, so it shouldn't be throttling at that point.

Twin towers seem sufficient for Ryzens; make sure you pasted correctly. Otherwise, it’s possible you missed removing the cooler film.

The cooler film was definitely taken off. I applied the paste first, but since the build wasn’t posting yet, I sent it to Canada Computer who replaced the defective MOBO and reworked the build. They should be able to apply the paste now. I’ll verify that tonight. Still wondering if it will handle 90-92 without throttling.

It's fairly warm, this processor tends to hit these temperatures more often after turning on PBO compared to its normal operating range.
