Avoid using several routers in that setup. It won’t help and adds unnecessary complexity. A single router for your PC works best without extra devices. If you want broader Wi-Fi coverage, explore using the Asus mesh system and adding more Extender units.

Connects the modem to the router for switching purposes, then links the switch to every device. For a mesh network, use the X8 as one of the nodes.

The router includes an integrated switch, allowing additional devices beyond the four ports. You can link items to the router itself or to the switch you install, or both.

What are you aiming for here? These items should each perform well independently. How extensive is the area you need to cover with Wi-Fi? What materials are the walls constructed from? Aren't the XT4 models equipped with Ethernet ports? The main XT4 functions as a router, connecting to other devices via a dedicated wireless antenna. You can also provide a wired connection through Ethernet for a backhaul link, effectively forming a distributed AP setup that can still operate using AiMesh.
