Hello! I have an interesting question for you. So I am on Spectrum basic plan, I have it setup with them to use my own router. Here is my problem! They gave me the technicolor tc8717t Modem / Router combo, I went in and Enabled Bridge Mode and turned everything off to use my own Router.. Fun problem, in the configs it says Bridge Mode is on.. but it's not.. I connect my desktop to the Modem / Router combo and I get a Ipv4 and ipv6 address, while on the asus rt-acrh13 that I am trying to use for Wifi since the Modem / Router has the WiFi off. get's a completely different Ipv4 address and no ipv6 address. mind you this is while they are BOTH plugged in.. in my asus rt-acrh13 I have the ipv6 set to passthrough mode and it's still not giving my ipv6.. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this something to do with the Modem / Router Spectrum gave me?

I understand that with Comcast you usually need to contact them to activate a feature. It’s unclear whether the problem lies with the gateway or if Spectrum has blocked the setting from your side. From what I’ve heard, Spectrum’s support for customer-owned equipment is lacking. You might try reaching out to them to see if they can enable it, but it’s uncertain. Generally, ISPs disable certain features in their gateways to prevent customers from making mistakes that trigger service calls. This is why I’d usually suggest purchasing your own modem, though given Spectrum’s poor support for such devices, I’d probably advise against that.

Sure, I got along with the text chat and the person mentioned they had to turn it on. Spectrum is what I have nearby right now until a local company named Empire delivers it to me. Thanks for the assistance!

Spectrum is likely to provide individual Modems (like the ARRIS TM1602A). This serves as a fallback option if you need alternatives. Bridged Mode is the recommended setup—it’s meant to be straightforward, just enable it and link your own router. On the WAN interface of your connected router, you should see your public IP address. If you have a private IP (Class C range), Bridged Mode won<|pad|>, it’s not functioning properly.

My public IP isn't what I expect. I'm trying to log into the modem at 192.168.100.1, but it shows bridge enabled and only port one works. It seems all ports are functional even when enabled. The modem's IP differs from the routers' IPs—one is 67 and another starts with 77. This is really confusing.

Activating Bridged Mode should turn off the router functionality entirely, allowing your standalone router to obtain your public IP address. If your ISP modem or router is assigning IP addresses incorrectly, there’s likely an issue. Check whether DHCPv4 or DHCPv6 is still active.

You have all settings turned off, but clicking the WAN Tab in the Modem still doesn<|pad|>.
