Modem function and router settings
Hello, with your Virgin Suprehub 3.0 set up using cable, you have two mode options: modem and router. Switching to modem mode means you can connect any router you prefer, as long as it supports the necessary protocols for your connection type.
When you switch to modem mode, you can connect any cable router you prefer using the hub.
You need to verify the cable type before purchasing, and it’s better to consider a router rather than sticking with the Superhub 3.
There isn't any "cable router" concept; a regular "Standard" router should suffice. Just ensure you purchase a router rather than a modem/router combo. For instance, the TP Link Archer C7 or the Synology RT2600AC are typical examples of standard routers. The C7 is generally a budget option, especially in the US, while the Synology model tends to be more costly.
You can't connect third-party cable modems on your Virgin network. You must use the provided hubs. Purchase a reliable third-party cable router and switch it to modem mode.
