Are you missing potential performance with your 2666 RAM setup on a 12400f and 3070, gaming at 1440p ultrawide? You might consider upgrading to a 2x8 3200mhz RAM if it boosts your gameplay.

It varies by game. The 12400F uses memory efficiently, but 2666MT/s can be slow in certain scenarios. Check GPU utilization while playing; if it consistently hits around 90% or less, it likely points to memory or CPU problems. Regardless, I wouldn’t recommend upgrading unless you need extra capacity. You can still overclock your existing memory setup—most kits support at least 3200 CL16. Just set the voltage to 1.35V, adjust timings to 16-20-20-40, and gradually raise the frequency until you reach your target. After that, perform a memory stress test to confirm stability.

Thanks! I'll consider OC if it fails—I'll have a reason to upgrade.

As long as you keep the voltage moderate, the worst situation is usually reinstalling Windows or clearing the CMOS. For those interested in more advanced techniques, you can explore memory overclocking, such as adjusting timings—though these require more expertise. It’s better to start with the simpler methods first. Feel free to ask if you run into problems or want to try the more complex approaches.
