Hello, I have a modded save file and an unmodded one. I’m currently playing with the modded version and just wanted to check if loading my vanilla save after installing mods will ruin it. With hundreds of hours already in the vanilla game, I’m concerned about any potential damage. Thanks ahead!

It varies by mod. Certain ones need you to start a new game, like Civil War Overhaul. Others work with just graphical changes.

Yes, you are asking about scripts.

Save the file carefully to confirm, but it won’t cause any damage. You can include additional features in any save, though removing and reusing them might lead to issues. Certain items may disappear or textures could become corrupted based on your modifications. UGrid settings tend to be problematic. Your original backup remains intact. Simply turn off add-ons before starting the game if needed.

You might attempt it, but I question its impact on your vanilla save unless you avoid saving during the process and something fails. Otherwise, Skyrim could crash.

Disable addons turns off extra features or plugins. It helps keep your system running smoothly and prevents unwanted behavior. To disable them, check your device settings or app menu for options related to add-ons and turn them off.

I transferred my Skyrim saves and mods multiple times without any problems, just avoid making mistakes and everything should work fine.

Just give it a shot and copy your saved game. If that fails, turn off the mods temporarily when you need another save, probably in NMM.
