Hello everyone, I’m currently working on a modded Minecraft server with some friends (not hosted by me). We’re playing Valhelsia Enhanced Vanilla on Curseforge. When I started the game and joined the server, my performance was around 7fps on average, peaking at 10fps when shaders were enabled. I’ve been dedicating 8-10GB of RAM to the modpack, tested all in-game settings (fast, minimal, off) with the Complementary Shaders pack. When I turned off the shaders, my frame rate improved and I reached 40-60FPS (still below my target), using only an 8 render distance. There are several background processes running—Discord, Spotify—and I usually use Wallpaper Engine, but disabling it didn’t help. I’ve updated my graphics drivers, still have 1.4TB of free space, and was expecting minor issues but am unsure where to begin troubleshooting. When I first got the PC, I assumed it would handle modern games smoothly at medium-high settings. My machine is relatively new, so I’m not sure where to start diagnosing or fixing this problem. If you have any advice, please share.

Verify your HDMI or DP cable is connected to your GPU. When you have multiple monitors, if one isn’t plugged into the GPU and you’re using it, the CPU will handle rendering. If this doesn’t function, there might be another problem requiring attention.

Oh my lord, it seems there was a mix-up with the setup. My girlfriend connected the DP cable to the motherboard instead of the GPU. Thank you for the tip!

It was great to assist; this problem is actually quite frequent.
