I’m evaluating an Ethernet connection for my bedroom. Since I’m renting, I can’t drill holes, so I found MOCA adapters that change Ethernet to coax and back. With a pre-installed coax cable, I wondered if I could link my old router through coax to my current router instead of buying an adapter, which would be more expensive. Having a spare router already makes this option worth considering.

I sense a similar concern about its performance compared to Powerline.

Moca adapters offer speeds close to gigabit rates based on the connection you receive. They perform significantly better than traditional power lines. Coaxial cables are actually shielded and built for data transmission. These adapters can function with the same coax used for Cable TV or Internet. If your router uses coax, it’s likely a cable gateway (modem/router). Regular routers typically lack coax ports. I recommend opting for Moca adapters for better reliability.
