Looking for MOCA modems compatible with 3.1 or 3.0 without an ISP? I'm having trouble finding options from providers, but I'm open to suggestions from other sources. It seems like you might need a setup that works outside traditional ISP support.

Are you looking to use MoCA on the connection between the modem and router, or would you prefer a single device that handles both modem and router functions with MoCA support?

A good idea, probably I missed that part. A modem-router combo with MoCA for LAN lets you connect it to an adapter along the network path and use it as Wi-Fi, a switch, or similar device.

Instead of purchasing a new modem and router, you could simply use a Moca adapter. Such adapters are available for around $160 USD.

I don't dislike the concept—it just makes me feel like I have more areas where I can fail. Are they dividing those responsibilities across different parts because MoCA demand is low, or is it simply a smarter approach since you can improve each component separately? Also, isn’t there a risk that frequencies might clash and cause interference when using docsis 3.1 with an adapted MoCA? It’s been a while since I really dived into MoCA details. Still, 160 for the pair is quite solid.

Moca interest is minimal in the consumer sector. Cable firms are likely the primary consumers for full-home DVar configurations. D3.1 supports up to 1.7Ghz, but most cable companies stick to 1Ghz or higher. You must install a Moca filter on the incoming line from the cable provider if you're using the same lines for internet and TV as well. The Moca filter prevents higher frequencies from entering and protecting your home.

MoCA 1.0 and DOCSIS faced compatibility problems. MoCA 2.0 and 2.5 work smoothly with DOCSIS.

Thats not entirely true. Technically Docsis 3.1 can use up to 1.7 Ghz, which would cut in to the part of the spectrum used by Moca 2.0 and 2.5 adapters. Its just that Cable companies dont use that part of the spectrum currently and its not really clear if they will. Plus cable companies use Moca, so they have incentive not to utilize above 1 Ghz.
