Opt for a standard branded product, give it a try for a few days, and if it doesn’t meet expectations, send it back.

Not really. Branding kinda sucks. They will advertise a speed for example 500 Mbps, but only have 100 Mbps Ethernet ports, so you will never get more than 100 Mbps. So you really need to dig in to the tech specs. Check the Ethernet port speeds. Also they are kinda designed for both adapters to be on the same circuit. They can operate on different circuits but be aware that will effect performance. Also the age of your wiring kinda matters. Older wiring it wont work well, and it might not work well or at all on the newest wiring standard, I think it has something to do with ARC fault breakers or something. So there is like a sweet spot in terms of wiring age where the tech really works well. Like @jaslion stated, buy one, test it and if it sucks return it.

All you can do is try it. No one can say for sure if it's going to work.

It's surprising there isn't a coax connection in every room or even each level. Without laying fresh cables, the choices are powerline networking or WiFi. (If you still need wires, opt for quality Cat6 instead of coax.)

the installation was supposed to happen during construction, but it didn’t occur as planned.

Are there any empty wall panels behind the furniture? They might be hidden.
