the image shows my current pc setup. as you notice, i don’t have usb headers, but i do have usb 3.2 connectors. my motherboard is a faulty OEM model (check out the acer n50-600 specs). that small protrusion on the right side is a usb 3.2 port. i’m trying to link the front usb header from my case to the corresponding port on my board. anyone know where to find a compatible adapter? the usb 3.2 ports on the back don’t appear to work for vr, and i’m unsure why. i’m not comfortable sharing the case name since it was a gift from an unknown brand.
I don’t manage to discern the board details clearly from that image. Based on the online spec sheet it appears there’s a USB port on the extended side, though your motherboard has a white plastic cover over it. There’s limited reliable info available about the specific USB port type on that end. I’m uncertain about the exact Acer prebuilt model you have, but from what I can see, it likely supports USB 3.1, and the back does have a USB-C port which should work well for your VR requirements. I searched for compatible USB 3.0 connectors that can handle front-side USB 3.0 connections, but didn’t find any suitable cables for your setup.
The only usb-c connection I have is on that extra port, unfortunately. I also lack sufficient long USB-C cables for VR. This picture seems to be the most detailed I could locate, displaying the headers and other details on the board.
My motherboard layout doesn’t appear to include a usable PCI-E X1 port. You can check one of my previous messages for a clear picture of its design.
I see, so you should just plug in the front panel usb 3.2 cable into the mobo front panel ports on the mobo there. The ports on the motherboard are front panel connector ports so they should be compatible. If it doesn't work, give me pictures of the motherboard front pane usb 3.2 ports and what your front panel port on the case looks like along with the front panel connector cable.
This motherboard fits the Dell design where the front panel is integrated into the board and protrudes from the case front.
That's what I considered before he mentioned a header in his reply. That's why I kept asking for a picture. In this situation he needs to locate a USB 3.2 motherboard male header that connects to a type A or B cable. From my first search on the web I couldn't find any 3.2 options. It might just be a coincidence. EDIT: Another option is to purchase a long USB 3.2 cable, insert it and route it through the back of your case using one of the PCIE covers.
