MoBo dismantling M.2 modules
MoBo dismantling M.2 modules
Hi everyone, I assembled a PC for my mother about a year ago. Soon after, she experienced frequent blue screens. I couldn't capture the exact error message, so I never identified the issue. After nine months Windows wouldn't boot and I also couldn't start from the USB installer (it began but only displayed a purple screen and a frozen mouse). I examined the M.2 SSD and it didn't appear in the BIOS at all. On my system it showed a connection, but no details about the SSD. I assumed the SSD was missing. I replaced it and still had blue screens occasionally. Now Windows won't start at all (the SSD is registered as bootable but only shows a black screen before returning to BIOS). Ubuntu from a USB stick works perfectly. Anyone have any ideas about what could be causing this problem? At this stage, I think the problem might lie with the motherboard or the power supply through the motherboard. Note: Asus PRIME A320M-K PSU: Sufficient power for this build, though it's quite old. CPU: AMD YD200GC6FBBOX Athlon 200GE SSD: Corsair Force MP510 240 GB
Do you have any particular details about the drive you're referring to? From what I understand, the previous attempt didn't recognize the SSD properly, which makes it unlikely that GParted will work now.
The SSD wasn’t visible on both machines, though it appeared on your PC. Regarding the M.2 slot, LSPCI should list all PCIe ports present.
It displayed the slot details, yet I couldn't retrieve the drive information for my device. Everything else remained unchanged.
I identified the issue. There was a lack of an SATA Power connector. It got damaged and melted several cables, including those linked to the mainboard (Power Switch, front USB 2, other power connectors). It was somewhat concealed, so I discovered it only after reassembling the PC. It seems it occasionally fried the mainboard, which affected the SSD.
