Hello! I'm looking for a fresh MMORPG experience—something new and unplayed. Something reminiscent of Perfect World, Blade & Soul, or Tera would be ideal. A fantasy world with stunning visuals is a must. I want gameplay that feels cinematic, not just straightforward text missions like in WoW (though those have some visual flair... not quite what I'm after). A touch of anime-inspired style would also be great. While I understand the price can vary, I prefer free-to-play options.

BDO remains my primary game right now. Unfortunately, it isn't flawless. The optimization is terrible, leading to inconsistent frame rates, stutters, and some laggy behavior. Still, I'm hooked and can't stop playing. Honestly, FPS issues tend to appear in densely populated areas or during boss encounters with many players. If you're stuck in a tight spot with around ten players nearby, it's usually manageable. On the flip side, I enjoy MMORPGs because of their varied PvE and PvP scenarios, which often bring FPS challenges. For now, no MMORPG has consistently maintained 60fps under all conditions—except Overwatch, which seems to be the only one that does in my experience. Have you played Guild Wars 2? I enjoyed it for two years.

Exploring Black Desert Online seems amazing! Guild battles can get repetitive, so I’m excited to try more suggestions. ^^

I believe you'll really like BDO. At least at the start, you won't be surrounded by large crowds. Unfortunately, most MMORPGs tend to lose your interest quickly. For just 10 dollars, it's definitely worth a try, I'm sure.

I'm not aware of any other titles besides WoW to compare with, but I'm still investing a lot of time in FFXIV. Give it a shot? It's not free-to-play, but you can run unlimited practice sessions up to the level cap, which helps you get used to it. The main story is driven by quests that combine voice lines and a lot of text menus. I'm not experiencing any frame drops even during intense moments. There was one unusual boss encounter that attracted a large group once they were revealed. The server would freeze before my FPS fell below 60. Don't worry, that situation is behind us and there are no more crashes now. The closest match today are S-rank hunts, which can quickly draw many players—possibly in the hundreds. The game's rendering system prioritizes nearby players, making it hard to distinguish details when numbers get high. Events like 24-player raids are smooth compared to this. I run the game at full resolution on 1440p with a high refresh rate, and typical performance is around 90fps, averaging over 120.

The game remains widely enjoyed and is still a popular choice among players. You might want to give it a try to see if you enjoy it!

You might also enjoy Blade & Soul; it offers decent visuals, though not quite matching BDO's polish, and its performance isn't ideal. It could still be a fun experience for you.

bdo means just grinding until you die—it loses its fun over time. This comes from an ex top PvP player who has -1mil karma. Ffxiv is more relaxed, though it requires a monthly fee.

It remains quite lively. I became involved around a year ago, and there was a significant growth phase this year. They recently shared an important update about active players, which was notable. It's not at the highest levels seen in World of Warcraft, but they're not at risk of disappearing soon.
