BDO is great if you can run it, there is also guildwars 2 but the graphics are very dated. BDO is cheap, and often on sale and GW2 is free iirc
You can enjoy WoW until level 20. I do that too. Black desert online is also popular but feels like a big challenge. Tera seems to work well. Runescape remains surprisingly popular and free as I know.
Tera offers an engaging combat system but steer clear if you dislike breaking immersion. Imagine an elf wielding two swords, black armor, and a cape, riding a red dragon or a black battle wolf, while another player lounges in a speedo with a surfboard on their back, riding a duck adorned with a rainbow afro and sunglasses—or even a toy police car. Reaching the top isn't overly demanding, but it differs significantly from MMO experiences like BDO. The gap between 64 and 65 levels is massive, especially since all high-level gear and skills are capped. Ultimately, that immersive break didn’t suit me (I also wanted to focus on solo play). It’s visually appealing but poorly optimized. My suggestion? If you decide to play, savor leveling up as much as possible, since the real challenge starts at level 65. The world is expansive, but many of its highlights won’t be revisited due to the lack of teleportation and instance-based dungeons.
I believed only Koreans share that trait. However, I noticed a few who were somewhat preserved—BDO appears less disruptive to immersion, FFXIV has its own flair, and ESO seems consistent too. I’m monitoring Ashes of Creation’s progress, which feels like a standard high fantasy world without any unusual elements (I think that was one of the developers’ assurances).
I just tried WOW and a couple of free-to-play MMOs, but I don’t remember their names.
Another vote for Guild Wars 2, or if you prefer more detail, explore the early days of the original game—it's still active but hasn't faded away. I plan to try it again when it's discounted. Keep in mind to activate the Action Camera Mode if you decide to play GW2. One of the highlights of Guild Wars 2 is its constant activity; you can schedule your day, complete events for big rewards, or simply relax amidst the chaos. PvP offers a competitive edge, perfect for showcasing your abilities or leading groups through cooperative missions. If you aim to stand out as a solo player, Star Trek Online provides ample opportunities to lead and support your team.
