Eve online stands out as a great MMO for those who prefer something different from traditional MMOs. It offers a space simulation feel with a large player base. Initially, I was unsure about trying it due to its reputation, but after a few months of play, I’ve found it engaging and not intimidating.

There are a few options. Many of them focus on winning or just grinding, which isn’t always enjoyable. Alternatively, Star: The Old Republic could be worth trying, though it’s not popular anymore. It was fun when I played, but you have to pay for it. You can access it for free until level 20. However, the community isn’t strong, and it’s tough to join groups. Since the game is well-designed, competition is high.

The early stages seem fairly dull, yet the dynamic events add more excitement for me. Exploring in GW2 doesn’t feel as repetitive as other titles, though it still involves some repetitive tasks typical of MMOs. I wish you could choose a class that matches your style—warrior feels too monotonous to me. I struggle to stay motivated to level up until the game becomes more enjoyable.

I enjoy playing FFXIV a lot, especially the monthly subscription makes it worthwhile. Give the free trial a shot, as @porina mentioned you can use it indefinitely, though they cap you at level 35—so you could complete every class before spending a penny. You can access all classes on one character, but there are some limits to avoid abuse by gold sellers and others. After registering for the full game, the trial ends and you need a subscription to continue playing.

It could be interesting if it’s free to play or provides a solid amount of free content to help you judge its value before spending money.

I used to enjoy SWTOR back in late 2016. I liked the DA and ME series from Bioware, which let me experience the games. I finished the main storylines for J Knight, J Counselor, S Warrior, and S Inquisitor. The remaining four classes didn’t capture my interest enough to complete them. My JK and SI characters have progressed too far in the expansions, so playing them now would require spending money again since I’m no longer a member. With so many characters to manage, I can’t keep adding new ones. I still want to try again, but I worry it’ll be a waste of money. I’ve tried joining the game four times, but each attempt costs $15–30 and doesn’t work.
