Comparing 10900k and 5800x performance. Evaluating which offers faster conversion times. Considering the impact of NVENC for video and CPU handling audio. Assessing the overall time savings over an i7-8700.

She’s definitely looking for a reason to improve her, isn’t she? Try doing it discreetly when she’s away and watch for any reaction. Women usually appreciate unexpected gifts!

MKV to MP4 conversion is essentially a straightforward remux process requiring minimal CPU resources. Certain applications may face single-threaded limitations during the operation.

Only CPU type matters when you want to re-compress video or audio. MKV and MP4 are both containers that hold video, audio, subtitles, and more. You can change a MKV file to an MP4 without reprocessing the media if your MP4 supports the formats used in the original file. Speed mainly depends on storage capacity rather than processor speed. If you need to shift audio formats (like AAC to MP3), most encoders work independently, so CPU performance isn’t the main factor. For video conversion, it comes down to whether you use a single-threaded encoder or take advantage of hardware acceleration via a graphics card. Tools like MeGUI can pull tracks from MKV and then combine them into an MP4 using available utilities such as mkvextractGUI, MKVToolnix, MP4Box, or Handbrake.

This process includes compression—her method is truly unique. The raw rips typically reach about 30GB, but they shrink to 3–4GB after compression. I think she leverages NVENC for video output while still depending on the CPU for audio processing.

The 10900K features 20 threads, which is straightforward. The IPC variation doesn’t seem worth the extra 4 threads unless you have a 5900x model. Unless you’re willing to upgrade, stick with Intel.

Planned to send extra items to my sister, but she declined. My listings on Craigslist, Facebook, and Nextdoor aren’t attracting attention even with high prices. I’m unsure what to do next if I need to get rid of them.

They’re adding extra components like AM4, so going for the 5800X makes sense. Our 2700X setup is already strong. I haven’t run into any software issues or glitches. Building the AMD system would definitely improve things in many areas.

She compressed 30 days of anime to fit it onto a 512GB MicroSD card before her military deployment, using NVENC on a 3080 to speed things up. The process was tough for compression. NVENC works quickly, but when comparing HEVC with software encoding at slower settings, the latter yields half the file size at the same quality. Of course, I had to pack 30 days into under two weeks—NVENC was the best choice if you care about file size and can wait on encodes.
