You should install the 4GB Crucial 4GB RAM. It fits your motherboard and provides a solid upgrade.

Consider merging the two 4GB units to check compatibility. Alternatively, opt for the 8GB option or purchase a budget pair from eBay.

For maximum RAM storage consider placing both 4GB sticks on one channel and the 8GB stick on the other channel separately. If this arrangement fails, using the two 4GB sticks together in dual-channel mode will likely succeed. This setup has proven effective with 2Gb bit Micron D9PJ and similar chips. The two different timing capabilities mean you can choose based on your clocking needs—D9PJ excels in precise timing while 4Gb DDR3 generally handles higher frequencies, especially above 3000MHz. If you aim for serious overclocking beyond 2400MHz, mixing chips won't help; sticking with stock configurations at a moderate pace (around 1600 or 1333) should be sufficient, even with less-than-ideal matching.

I tested the 2 4GB sticks in dual channel and then added the Corsair 4GB stick with the Corsair 2GB stick. It seems to work without issues so far. The SPD Ext. is grayed out, which suggests XMP isn't active. Does the Xeon E3-1240 v0 allow XMP?
