Place the 4GB unit into the slot labeled "DIMM-1". Start the system and use the newer drive instead of the older one.

Checking compatibility can be challenging, but testing is the best approach. It could succeed or fail, but you won’t harm the device.

It seems the RAM module might be faulty. It's best to keep each slot filled with identical RAM sticks at once. For 4GB, choose a 2GB stick and you'll get double the memory in dual channels, about 25% slower. For 8GB, pair two 4GB sticks. You can also use quad channeling if you have four matching sticks, but most systems only support dual channels.

Currently, your system operates on a single channel, which shouldn't cause any issues.

It's not an issue at all. A single DIMM operates on one channel, but using dual-channel mode will give you quicker RAM performance. It won't affect functionality and should work perfectly.

It was CL 7, correct? The name really reflects that. What were you trying to say?
