Installed the updated version 4070 and now experience frequent crashes in games. I attempted to disable the Wi-Fi driver, but that didn’t resolve the issue. It seems I’m stuck again. This is the new error shown in the event viewer. - < Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event" ... > - < System> <ProviderName="Microsoft-Windows-WHEA-Logger" Guid="{c26c4f3c-3f66-4e99-8f8a-39405cfed220}" /> <EventID>1</EventID> <Version>0</Version> <Level>2</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Opcode>0</Opcode> <Keywords>0x8000000000000002</Keywords> <TimeCreated>2023-10-10T20:57:55.1171576Z</TimeCreated> <EventRecordID>4808</EventRecordID> <CorrelationActivityID="{c6cce065-45e7-4311-94d4-948bd45894d7}" /> <ExecutionProcessID>5468</ExecutionProcessID> <ThreadID>5908</ThreadID> <Channel>System</Channel> <Computer>DESKTOP-RGEGJ4F</Computer> <SecurityUserID>S-1-5-19</SecurityUserID> </System> - Preparing to test R23 performance now, checking results, then reviewing BIOS settings. I didn’t note that I’m using Windows 10 and switched from Windows 11 during the installation.
My R23 score came in at 22800, which feels a bit low. I’m still not seeing any power problems since all cores stayed at 5.1GHz during testing. I adjusted the power limits to match your recommendations—raising them from 253 to 300—but it didn’t change the score either. I haven’t had a chance to test if it might crash in games yet. I plan to stick with these settings until I experience another issue.
It's quite unusual! The 22800 R23 rating doesn't seem to point to any problems. When the system slows down, have you checked how resources are being used? Run HWinfo and export the data to a CSV file. Focus on CPU, GPU, SSD, and RAM usage—look for spikes reaching 100%. Honestly, I'm struggling here. Your Zotac board didn't show any errors either; nothing jumped to full capacity. You might need to send it back via RMA if something is wrong, or test it with another PC that has a CPU and RAM socketed to confirm.
Sorry, but I disagree with that. I have a set of parts that let me replace components easily and it consistently helps identify the faulty one. The problem the OP faces likely stems from returning a working part, so they’ll receive it unchanged. Positive vote for the Mobo, though running a single stick could provide clarity. Even if not listed on the QVL, RAM might default to standard JEDEC timings.
I sent back the motherboard and got a fresh identical one today. After installing it, everything looked fine until the crash returned with the same Viewer codes. I’m considering testing each RAM stick to see if a crash occurs, then moving on to the CPU. It’s frustrating having to check each part individually, but at least I can eliminate the motherboard unless there are two faulty ones.
The RAM is on the qvl and I have played around with XMP on and off so I don't think Its a compatibility issue. Working now to see if there is a bad stick or not. I did run MemTest86 with no errors at all so I feel pretty good about the RAM being fine which just leaves the CPU up for debate.
I located the debug files and pinpointed the exact problem behind the crash. It matches the one I experienced on multiple platforms, with various graphics cards and motherboards. The issue remains unclear, but I’m hoping it will help someone more experienced. My next step is to try swapping the CPU. I don’t understand what Genuine Intel actually is.
