This is my first time joining the forum, so I’m completely new to everything. After building a new PC after an eight-year break, I felt confident about the process. But soon after, I started experiencing stutters while playing games and even crashes in-game. They seem worse during gameplay and happen multiple times, though I haven’t seen a full system crash even when the same problem appears on the desktop without any load.

I’ve tried every troubleshooting method I can think of and even looked into some online resources. I’m not an expert, but I believe in my ability to fix things, and I’m still confused. I reached out to a Windows specialist for help, hoping they could assist.

Before that, I made a basic list of the PC’s specs and all the troubleshooting steps I’ve taken so far, along with any findings that might be useful. Feel free to ask if you need anything else or have suggestions. I’m open to any advice!

Hey Buddy, Think about it—have you tried turning off your onboard LAN/WiFi adapters to check if the problem persists? I had an old Zotac that would freeze for a second whenever the Wi-Fi was active. It took some time to figure out the faulty adapter. This isn’t a fix but could help identify what’s causing the issue. Have you also tried swapping out your GPU for the Intel iGPU? Just be careful with games—performance will drop significantly. If it still stutters in games, you might eliminate an Nvidia problem. If the issue remains, it likely points to Mobo, CPU, or RAM. After updating your BIOS and reinstalling Windows, you probably won’t have a software or driver conflict left.

Update your profile details and install every available motherboard driver. If this doesn’t resolve the issue, consider turning off the network adapter in Device Manager. That’s probably the main reason for the strange stuttering. The next possible cause is audio problems—try disabling it as well. If either adjustment works, send a return merchandise authorization for the motherboard.

Thanks for your message! It's surprising you noticed those errors while searching for event logs. I haven't encountered them before, so I'll keep an eye on it. Regarding the Wi-Fi issue, since the solution is on the motherboard, I'm trying to figure out how to resolve it. On top of that, my GPU runs smoothly with games but still experiences stutters. I'm expecting the GPU to be back today and will check if I can reproduce the problem. Overall, I'm feeling confused because there are multiple issues and it's hard to pinpoint the cause.

I'll begin by checking the Wi-Fi issue in the event log. Thanks for the update.

I only received the 990 Pro; I learned about problems with its firmware and updated accordingly. No other issues observed. Appreciate your response.

It could really be that simple. If any of the internal components are broken, you'll likely need a PCIe card since you're not using a mini-ITX board and have available PCIe slots. Turn off the problematic device (like the Wi-Fi adapter or NIC) in your BIOS or Windows Device Manager. If your motherboard comes with a warranty, consider returning it for repair. Interestingly, with my Zotac board I didn't see any alerts about the issue. The problem only became noticeable when streaming from YouTube, so I turned off the adapter and everything improved significantly. That’s useful to know—your 4070 chipset seems pretty reliable.

I have an ITX board, which means I won’t be able to find a solution and I’ll need my PCIe slot for the GPU. I might have to open some boxes and contact MSI for an RMA if I can identify the problem.

Consider testing with Cinebench R23 on a 13600K processor. Expect around 24000 points without throttling. Intel Undervolt Protection might affect performance on certain B760 boards if activated in BIOS. Some boards support an older microcode version before this protection existed. The ThrottleStop FIVR window will indicate if Undervolt Protection is active. Check HWiNFO for power limit details. Using default limits can lower peak performance and trigger throttling. Adjust PL1 and PL2 to their maximum settings if available. Tools like ThrottleStop or Intel XTU allow fine-tuning of MSR turbo limits, provided the BIOS hasn't restricted them. A yellow lock in ThrottleStop means the limit is fixed. Users have noted occasional ball stuttering when these Windows 11 safeguards remain on.
