Minor FPS fluctuations observed in every title
I’m going to play Overwatch or Doom Eternal and will notice a sudden drop in FPS. It’s usually stable at full settings but it’s deteriorating and I’m unsure why. I’ve updated all drivers and everything seems fine. I’m using a GTX 1080, an i7-7700k, 16GB Corsair Vengeance, and I’m playing on my HDD. Anyone have any suggestions to fix this? Also, it started after connecting my second monitor at 144Hz; my main monitor is now 60Hz.

Running HWmonitor while gaming provides real-time temperature data.
It helps identify if the CPU is throttling.
A maximum temperature near 100°C indicates throttling.
If the minimum temperature exceeds 10-15°C above ambient, the cooler may be loose or improperly mounted.
Have you installed your graphics driver directly from NVIDIA?

When a game loads a graphics texture, it can do so up to 40 times faster on an SSD compared to a HDD.
If you haven’t yet switched to an SSD—especially on Windows—I recommend doing so.
An SSD offers one of the most rewarding performance improvements you can achieve.
