We're discussing something quite modest. Rocket League isn't particularly demanding, yet it falls well beyond the capabilities of many lower-end systems that still manage to run Don't Starve smoothly.

It's for my laptop — CPU i7-8750, GPU 1050ti, 16GB RAM. I don’t want to play games all the time, just keep things calm. Still, I’m sure it can handle Rocket League.

However, the deal is quicker than light—75% off for around $3. Stardew Valley now costs closer to $10.

This should generally work well for most situations. Only the least efficient indie titles and the newest AAA games will be challenging, and even then, likely only with higher settings.

Sure, but honestly, most games run smoothly even on my PC at low settings. Still, I wonder why the laptop feels better than my PC sometimes.

Age of Empires 2's competitive scene isn't quite the same anymore. The new privacy update on Steam messed with ELO ratings, and the matchmaking system is broken. The developers seem to have vanished.

The laptop GPU performs quite well. Games such as Skyrim and many indie titles should run smoothly. You should be able to play on the move with decent battery life and minimal resource usage. Minecraft in Java or Windows 10 would likely be ideal.
