Gtx 1650 I52400 with 8gb dual channel
Playing GTA 5 at 1440p high
FPS ranges from 40 to 70
Performance is slow, affecting both GPU and CPU
Reason for this issue
You clearly face a CPU limitation that will restrict your frame rate in the same way it does now. Particularly noticeable when playing GTA Online. Around 40-70 fps is actually quite solid with an i5 2400. Just remember to monitor your temperatures and resource usage so components stay cool. You’ll need at least another 4GB of RAM, but I strongly suggest adding another 8GB for better stability and performance across other titles. While increasing RAM won’t significantly raise your frame rate, it will make the experience much smoother.
To achieve more consistent frame rates and higher performance in certain game sections with your current hardware, you should adjust your graphics settings if you haven’t already done so. Don’t anticipate major gains beyond 35-45 fps in demanding gameplay areas, especially during full online lobbies or within the Casino.
Upgrading your CPU is the most important step. Although it doesn’t mean your CPU is faulty, for 1440p it’s just managing fine. If I were you with a setup like this, I’d cap my frame rate at 60-65 to keep things cool and ensure smoother, more stable performance. In GTA 5 at 1440p, that’s the target.
