I typically play games that demand high CPU performance but have recently shown interest in visually rich titles. In my current setup, I’m using an i7-13700K processor paired with an RTX 3060. I notice my GPU is quite old compared to my CPU, which might explain the drop in FPS during demanding visuals. While my CPU stays light, my GPU usage spikes significantly, suggesting it’s the limiting factor. I’m considering a GPU upgrade and want to confirm if this imbalance is the main issue.
The CPU passes data to other parts of the system such as RAM and GPU. When your GPU is fully used, the CPU won’t run more intensely because it already provides the GPU everything it requires for optimal performance. You’ll notice increased CPU activity when paired with a stronger GPU, since it must handle more work. You’re experiencing a GPU bottleneck in demanding games with your 3060. Of course, the situation is a bit more complex, but the concept remains the same.
I wouldnt trust those websites, id reckon theres a bigger than 10% bottleneck in gpu heavy tasks with that combo

Bullshit tool, basically. Just serves to confuse the already confused about this topic and doesn't actually solve anything.
It's not accurate, since I upgraded to the 7800X3D after the 5950X, and gaming performance jumped dramatically. Starfield nearly doubled its frame rate, while many games that previously stuttered due to minor issues now run smoothly. Still, what exactly counts as a bottleneck is hard to pin down, because each program behaves differently. The game might be single-threaded, which would favor Intel, but some titles rely on heavy multithreading and won't improve much on the 7800X3D.
