I've been looking for a Linux distribution or operating system that supports browser video playback and VLC video playback. I've tried Ubuntu Mate, Snappy Ubuntu core, Raspbian, and Linaro. Are there any lightweight OS options that fit your requirements? I'm almost giving up and considering using my Pi as a router or torrent server.

rpb lacks sufficient strength, which is why I don’t suggest it

This model was designed primarily for breadboard projects. I attempted to use it with an XMBC, a lightweight router, and a small personal file server, but none performed well. I’d give it 10 out of 10 unless you’re passionate about breadboarding and DIY work.

You experienced some challenges with Raspbian, especially on the Pi model. Despite its decent performance, it isn't very powerful overall. While it handled media streaming smoothly (H.265 1080p at 60fps), its capabilities for a full workstation were quite restricted.

No, I checked both options—overclocking and using the default settings.

I understand, you're considering alternatives similar to NUCs. Let's explore other options together.
