About a week ago I installed a new GPU and initially it didn’t run at 50% load. I assumed the power supply was the issue since it only had 450W but recommended 500W. After replacing the PSU, the same problem persisted. I’ve reset Windows, installed a fresh driver via ddu, updated chipset drivers, and checked other settings—seems like there’s no major bottleneck. My current specs are: Ryzen 5 2600 stock cooler, RTX 2060 6GB, 512GB SSD, Gigabyte B450M DS3H v2, 16GB DDR4 at 3200MHz, thermal rating of 700W, 80+ power plan. I’m unsure what to do next and would really appreciate any advice.

Adjust the game's settings and observe whether GPU utilization rises. Lower GPU usage often indicates a CPU limitation.

The adjustments aren't that significant but the resolution remains at 1440p and 4K is fully supported. It might be a minor issue, though it could become a problem later. Sometimes the CPU usage fluctuates while the GPU stays stable, and both usually stay near 60%, which means the CPU could be the bottleneck.

You must quote individuals or reference them like @johnt to confirm your reply. Minimal GPU activity often indicates CPU limitations. The reported CPU percentage can be deceptive since the game might only engage a few cores—such as ~16% on a six-core processor, meaning one core could be fully active. If the application cannot utilize more than one core, you're experiencing CPU-bound performance.

I looked into YT and your CPU/GPU pairing shouldn't be causing issues. That's why I focused on the game since there have been some inconsistent results lately, similar to what happens with Valorant or other titles. If you haven't tried triple-A games like Cyberpunk or Witcher, or any Ubisoft titles (such as Far Cry or Assassin's Creed), it might be worth giving them a try. You'll want something that really tests your GPU to see if the CPU is the limiting factor. This could apply to older games or those with weaker GPUs.
