Dear Forum,
After restarting and adding shaders and texture packs to Minecraft, my game is running very slowly. I’m seeing only 30-60 frames per second, even though my GPU and CPU are using about 20% each. With a 144Hz monitor, the performance is extremely poor.

My computer specifications are:
- i7-6700 (non-K)
- RTX 2080
- 16GB RAM
- H110M PRO-D
- 600W power supply
I’m not sure what’s causing this issue but would really appreciate your assistance!

Thank you!

Dear Original Poster, the bottleneck is nearly 40%.

I use a 128x pack, yet the issue remains consistent with other options. The shaders come in three variations, and I prefer Sildurs Shaders the most. What do you mean?

I think your CPU isn't fast enough for the RTX 2080 graphics card you purchased, and this could lead to more issues over time. It might also cause FPS drops in many new games. The GPU can't reach its full potential due to a bottleneck. Also, it seems shaders in Minecraft consume a lot of GPU processing power.

Are you certain it's a CPU issue? On other games I've seen 100% GPU usage, like R6 and Battlefield 4/1/5.

Unless your CPU is consistently at 100%, it doesn't mean the game is being slowed down. The low usage in Minecraft comes from its single-threaded design on an i7 6700, unlike games such as Fortnite, League of Legends, or CSGO which perform similarly.

I usually get around 50 fps on maximum settings in Monster Hunter World. It uses about 20% GPU power, 35-40% CPU, and around 6GB RAM. I’m not sure what to do about it. I don’t think the issue is with my monitor, because I get about 400 fps in League of Legends (unless it’s not actually playable with this frame rate). Please let me know if you need help with that.

128x isn't suitable for your configuration. You should definitely achieve a significantly higher FPS. On an older Nvidia 680 GTX, I could run 256x smoothly at around 60 fps in 1080p. Even at 4k resolution, the performance would likely be less impressive compared to what you're seeing now.
