Mini PC Not Booting ?
I bought a Qotom Q190G4U Mini PC a few years back, had PFSense running as a router until it stopped in 2020. I attempted to restart it, thinking a new hard drive was needed, but the issue persists—it only boots from a USB Live Linux Mint image now, and even that doesn’t work. It seems it’s stuck on the BIOS splash screen. I’m unsure if the RAM or another part is faulty. I can enter BIOS using the Delete key, but any changes I make are lost after a reset. Any suggestions would be helpful.
It appears that removing the battery and swapping it back restored the system clock to 2015, yet the problem persists with frequent reboots after the splash screen. Testing with a Linux Mint bootable USB showed normal performance, suggesting the issue isn't related to MSATA, RAM, BIOS, or battery. The power brick seems to be the likely culprit or another hardware concern.
I turned it off right now and it started from MSATA, actually loaded pfSense three times, then I attempted to reach BIOS and stopped booting completely again.
It tried to boot Linux Mint from the USB but failed on the splash screen (some ACPI error).
It looks like the problem is intermittent—does that sound like it’s related to the power supply?
I can enter the BIOS without issues, just press Del, I can change settings, save and exit. It seems the bootloader is stuck and keeps resetting...
