I’m experiencing a frame rate of only approximately 40 fps when utilizing maximum settings in Minecraft. Conversely, within other titles such as The Witcher 3, I achieve 60+ frames per second on ULTRA settings. I am uncertain how to resolve this problem. I have even dedicated 8 GB of RAM specifically to Minecraft, yet the performance has not improved. Furthermore, I’ve adjusted power usage to HIGH PERFORMANCE based on recommendations, but this has had no effect. My system specifications are as follows:
- GTX 980
- i7 4790K
- 16 GB RAM

Ensure you’ve installed the newest Java version alongside OptiFine. OptiFine can boost your frames per second and offers additional graphical options that, we hope, your computer will handle effectively.
Why are you assigning 8GB of your memory to Minecraft? I’ve never encountered needing to manually allocate RAM for a game before. Usually, a game simply utilizes the amount available until resources are exhausted.
I'm not asserting that games often require more than 8GB of RAM, but if you possess 16GB in your computer, why would you diminish half of it?

Thank you for clarifying this. Having spent approximately 20 years gaming, I’m among a small number who haven’t played Minecraft – I wasn’t aware this was a significant consideration for it, as it isn’t typically an adjustable setting in other games.
Reduce the memory assigned, as excessive amounts cause performance issues. Java tends to consume more memory regardless, so aim for approximately 4-5GB to observe its behavior. This may be beneficial.
