Minecraft + Shaders has very low FPS on great hardware?
I own an RTX 2080 Super (liquid cooled), AMD Ryzen 7 3800x (liquid cooled), 16GB RAM @ 3733 MHz, all on an ASUS ROG Crosshair Hero VIII motherboard, powered by a Corsair RM850x PSU. My previous system consisted of an Intel i7-7700 and a GTX 1070. Despite having a significantly more powerful CPU and graphics card, my current setup experiences fluctuating framerates in Minecraft: it initially achieves approximately 90 FPS but drops to 30 FPS after about one minute of gameplay. While I recognize Minecraft is typically CPU-bound, I believe my system possesses sufficient processing power. Task Manager shows high priority settings and core affinity utilization. Despite these configurations, the performance remains unstable. I have updated the BIOS and reinstalled GeForce drivers without resolving the issue.
It could be a GPU driver problem. Have you tested different driver versions for the RTX graphics card? Are you running Windows 10 or Windows 10 OS? How do other PC games perform on your system, specifically graphically intensive ones?
